Abstract

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a prevalent and heterogeneous pulmonary disorder. Affected individuals develop inflammatory responses within the airways and pulmonary tissues, which result in airflow limitation and give rise to persistent respiratory manifestations such as cough, expectoration, wheezing, and shortness of breath. In recent years, COPD has been primarily attributed to abnormalities resulting from chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and related disorders. Through systematic literature retrieval, collation, and analysis, the author has comprehensively reviewed the research progress of Suzi Jiangqi Decoction in the management of COPD among pulmonary diseases. The biological activities, mechanisms of action, clinical applications, and synergistic effects with Western medications of Suzi Jiangqi Decoction are summarized as follows.
