Abstract

With the rapid proliferation of short videos among younger demographics, children’s socialization faces emerging challenges in the digital media landscape. This study examines the impact of short-video usage on multiple dimensions of children’s socialization by conducting questionnaire surveys with 1st–3rd graders from two primary schools in Xinxiang, Henan Province. Grounded in Jean Piaget’s and Lev Vygotsky’s theories of child development, the study assesses socialization levels and analyzes data through descriptive statistics and independent-samples t-tests. Based on the findings, the paper proposes tripartite guidance strategies involving families, schools, and society, advocating for collaborative efforts to promote responsible short-video consumption and harness its potential as a positive medium for socialization.
