Abstract

Against the backdrop of an intensifying global energy crisis and the ongoing advancement of the “dual carbon” goals, vehicle lightweighting has emerged as a key technological direction for improving driving range and energy efficiency, with wheel lightweighting playing a particularly crucial role in this effort. This paper focuses on the wheel hub of a specific vehicle model. Adopting a lightweight structural design approach, the authors used Creo to perform 3D modeling and structural optimization of the wheel hub, resulting in a lightweight design solution;and perform finite element simulations of the component under various operating conditions, including radial and bending loads, using ANSYS.The test results show that the hub we designed has a significantly reduced weight, and its strength, hardness and fatigue resistance can all meet the requirements of actual use. This study provides technical guidance and practical insights for the lightweight design and performance validation of new energy vehicle wheel hubs.
