This paper takes the development of comic art in China as the research object, aiming to demonstrate the influence of authoritarian political system on the development of art. First, it introduces the three art forms of Chinese comics: satirical comics, comic strips and modern story comics, and summarizes the development characteristics of Chinese comics during the Cultural Revolution and the influence of China's planned economy. Secondly, from the development of comics in the late Cultural Revolution in China and the development of comic art in the liberal democratic environment of the West, it explores the influence of political system and economic policy on the development of art.
