Abstract

Task-based language teaching emphasizes real and meaningful tasks as the driving force to promote students’ comprehensive English abilities. The flipped classroom, as an innovative teaching mode, shifts knowledge instruction to an extracurricular setting, allowing more in-class time for task completion and interactive communication to enhance students’ self-directed learning ability and learning efficiency. This paper integrates the task-based language teaching method with the flipped classroom to design a teaching framework for Unit 4, “Looking Good, Feeling Good,” from the High School English Required Textbook 1 (the Yilin Edition). This study not only provides novel teaching strategies for high school English teaching but also offers theoretical support and practical solutions to the combined application of task-based language teaching and the flipped classroom.
