Abstract

Museum historical themed exhibitions are an important window for cross-cultural dissemination of Chinese history and culture, and the quality of their English guide texts directly determines the effectiveness of international dissemination. At present, there are common problems in the English translation of museum history exhibitions in China, such as inconsistent terminology, lack of historical context, weak sentence adaptation, and superficial cultural translation, and an exclusive standardized translation system has not yet been formed. This article combines the research of museum special exhibition text data to systematically sort out the existing problems and underlying causes of translation. It constructs a systematic translation optimization path from the dimensions of terminology standardization, contextual reconstruction, language adaptation, cultural translation, and quality control, providing reference for the English translation practice of museum historical publicity texts.
