Tetrahydrofurfural alcohol (THFA), a promising bio-based platform chemical, has garnered significant attention due to its potential for conversion into a wide range of high-value chemicals. Derived from renewable biomass sources, THFA serves as a key intermediate for the sustainable production of valuable compounds. This review explores the various catalytic methods used to convert THFA into high-value chemicals such as tetrahydrofuran (THF), biofuels, aromatic compounds, and polymers. Additionally, the challenges associated with these processes, including selectivity, scalability, and energy efficiency, are discussed. The article also highlights the emerging opportunities for THFA in green chemistry, bio-based materials, and circular economy approaches. This review aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the current state of THFA conversion technologies and their potential for industrial application.
