Abstract

Herbie Hancock, an outstanding jazz artist of the 1960s, with his exceptional achievements profoundly influenced the development of modern jazz. This paper aims to elucidate his unique artistic thinking and concepts through an analysis of his renowned composition “Dolphin Dance” focusing on its chord progression. By doing so, it aims to reveal his unique artistic thinking and concepts, so as to provide some assistance for the theoretical analysis and development of jazz.
