The rapid progress of Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) technology has profoundly impacted industries around the world, especially in the field of education, bringing unprecedented changes. As an important part of art education, illustration education is also facing the opportunities and challenges brought by the changes in AI technology. This paper explores the far-reaching impact of AI technology on the design of illustration curriculum, teaching methods and assessment of teaching effects from the perspective of reforming the teaching mode and practical application of illustration education. The study shows that 1. AI broadens the dimension of teaching. AI introduces new expression and learning channels for illustration teaching, and promotes the diversification of teaching content and methods; 2. Technology application raises problems. Intelligent teaching has exposed potential risks such as tool dependence, aesthetic convergence and ethical boundaries while enhancing efficiency; 3. Reshaping of teaching content and aesthetic mode. The intervention of intelligent systems in image creation not only affects the expressive language of illustration, but also changes the judgment of originality and aesthetic standards in art education to a certain extent, prompting educators to rethink the way of constructing teaching content. Finally, the article suggests that illustration education should combine artistry and technology on the basis of intelligent teaching to build a flexible, diversified and interactive teaching mode to meet the demand for composite illustration talents in the new era.
