After the year 2000, Chinese higher education entered a new round of integration and expansion. During this period, a large number of emerging universities and new campuses were established across the country. The northeast region of China also made significant progress in this wave. The construction of Shenyang Jianzhu University Hunnan campus is one such exemplary case. Using the post-occupancy evaluation (POE) method, this paper systematically evaluates the campus space from the perspectives of planning characteristics, external environment, and architectural space, from the users' viewpoint, to summarize design experiences and address existing shortcomings. The campus layout concept is unique, with distinct design features such as "harmony between architecture, environment, and people," "warm corridors," and "sustainability." However, issues such as poor building orientation and "pendulum-like" activity patterns exist. The analysis of these advantages and disadvantages can serve as a reference for campus renewal and construction in cold regions of Northeast China.
