To address lower back fatigue and poor sitting posture associated with prolonged office work, this study developed an intelligent office chair support system based on back pressure sensing. The system utilizes a matrix of back pressure sensors to continuously monitor pressure distribution. This data guides the adaptive adjustment of zoned air-cells and a low-cost sliding backrest mechanism, working together to provide personalized support for the physiological curvature of the spine during dynamic sitting postures. A controlled experiment was conducted, comparing the prototype against commercially available chairs rated for high and low comfort using surface electromyography and subjective comfort ratings. The results show that the intelligent seat significantly delayed fatigue in the erector spinae muscle ( ) and effectively reduced lower back discomfort. This confirms its effectiveness in optimizing sitting posture load distribution, enhancing comfort, and improving anti-fatigue performance. The study offers a new direction for ergonomic design in office seating.
