Abstract

Against the backdrop of the global digitalization trend, the new energy vehicle (NEV) industry, recognized as a strategic emerging sector, has increasingly embraced digital transformation as a crucial pathway to enhance firms’ core competitiveness. This study takes BYD as a representative case to examine the process and performance outcomes of digital transformation in NEV enterprises from the perspective of Resource Orchestration Theory (ROT). Specifically, the study first identifies the key driving factors behind BYD’s digital transformation through an in-depth case analysis. It then explores the mechanisms through which resources are orchestrated during the transformation process. Finally, it evaluates transformation performance from both financial and non-financial dimensions. The findings reveal that effective resource orchestration significantly supports the success of digital transformation in NEV enterprises. BYD’s experience provides valuable insights and practical implications for other firms in the industry seeking to design and implement their own digital transformation strategies.
