Abstract

As a pivotal entry point to the smart home, smart speakers transcend their role as mere audio devices to become central hubs for ecosystem control. This paper employs a GO/STOP analytical framework to evaluate the strategic trajectory of Xiaomi's smart speaker business within its broader Mijia ecosystem. The analysis, which synthesizes market data and user studies, identifies key accelerators (GO signals) that have propelled Xiaomi's dominance in the mass market: exceptional cost efficiency, powerful ecosystem lock-in, and hyper-localized AI. Conversely, STOP signals pinpoint critical impediments, including a significant privacy trust deficit, a premium experience gap due to inferior audio quality, and risks associated with a closed ecosystem architecture. The conclusion is that Xiaomi's future growth hinges on a strategic pivot: balancing its low-cost model with initiatives to build trust, enhance quality, and pursue selective ecosystem openness to capture high-value market segments.
