Abstract

With the development of the global sports event economy, the relationship between some short-term benefits and long-term benefits has become a key topic in major sports events. The Qatar World Cup is a classic high-cost competition, and it has important research value. This article discusses the rationality and long-term effects of the huge investment of funding in infrastructure, and also focuses on analyzing the positive economic benefits brought by the competition, such as a significant increase in travel consumption, improvement of employment opportunities and expansion of international fame. It also discusses some negative effects such as high cost, resource waste and residents' living pressure. Research shows that the Qatar World Cup drives the economy in a short time and achieves remarkable achievements in improving the country’s image, but some risks still exist, such as facility idleness and social cost problems. Therefore, this article propose resource recycling, and push resource recycling, sports culture recycling, make short-term benefits to long-term benefits.
