Abstract

Solar panels are more efficient when angled to maximize sunlight exposure. This paper investigates simple mathematical models to optimize the tilt angle, increasing energy production by 10–20%. Based on simple variables like the latitude and the seasonal position of the sun, these models then calculate the best tilts for projects as varied as powering a community center. Approaches use geometrical formulas and sunshine means validated by measurements and simulation. Difficulties such as clouds or dust are treated with pragmatic strategies. This concise guide aiding application of tilt optimization methods for efficient solar energy is the green technology of tomorrow. The research makes modelling through to real conditions manageable, to help optimize green power choices.
