The Pearl River Delta, a prominent economic powerhouse in China, is home to resource-rich cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Zhuhai. This study explores how geographic and economic location profoundly influence the industrial development of these cities, shaping their economic landscape. Geographic positioning, defined by factors like proximity to coastlines, natural resource distribution, and transportation networks, plays a pivotal role. Coastal cities excel in manufacturing and trade, while those with fertile land thrive in agriculture and tourism. Economic factors such as market demand, labor availability, cost competitiveness, and access to capital also significantly impact industrial composition. These factors interact dynamically, fostering industrial clusters, influencing transportation infrastructure, and guiding resource utilization. Based on these findings, recommendations for optimized industrial planning are proposed, including industry diversification, infrastructure enhancement, environmental considerations, and urban integration. Policy suggestions aim to balance economic growth with environmental sustainability, workforce development, innovation promotion, inclusive growth, and regional collaboration. This research provides valuable insights for policymakers and urban planners to formulate sustainable development policies in the Pearl River Delta and similar regions, ensuring continued economic prosperity.
