Parent-child Family Travel in Macau

Abstract

In recent years, parent-child tourism has emerged as a key component of modern travel culture, emphasizing family bonding, experiential learning, and quality leisure time. This paper explores the development potential of parent-child tourism in Macau by analyzing its cultural, infrastructural, and economic advantages. This paper highlights Macau’s unique position in the Greater Bay Area, supported by its rich cultural heritage and family-friendly facilities. Through a SWOT analysis, the paper identifies the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats faced by Macau’s parent-child tourism sector. It concludes that, especially in the post-pandemic era, short-duration family travel, including emerging trends like parent-child camping, offers significant growth potential for Macau’s tourism industry. The paper further suggests that enhancing infrastructure, diversifying offerings, and fostering local hospitality behavior can position Macau as a leading destination for family-oriented travel.
