Abstract

Lumbar disc herniation (LDH) is a common disease in spine surgery, characterized by typical symptoms of low back and leg pain, which can lead to sensory disturbances in the lower limbs, muscle weakness, and in severe cases, urinary and fecal dysfunction. For patients with poor response to conservative treatment, surgical treatment should be considered. Traditional open surgery causes large trauma and varying degrees of damage to the paravertebral muscles, facet joints, and surrounding ligaments, affecting the stability of the spine. With the development of the concept of minimally invasive surgery and the improvement of endoscopic surgical techniques, minimally invasive spine surgery has been widely used in the treatment of degenerative lumbar diseases. Unilateral biportal endoscopic (UBE) has been used in the treatment of various spinal disorders, causing minimal damage to the different structures. This article provides a review of the progress of UBE treatment on the impact of lumbar stability.
