Abstract

The genetic breeding of silkworms has established a sound mechanism for silkworm breeding and preservation in previous research, which has steadily promoted the industrial development of silkworms. However, with the continuous advancement of technology, traditional genetic resource development has gradually encountered development bottlenecks and has reached saturation. Therefore, turning to new technological means has become an urgent task. In recent years, the rapid development of molecular biology, genomics, genetic modification, and genome editing technologies has opened up new opportunities for the genetic breeding of silkworms. The application potential of these modern technologies not only promotes the transformation and upgrading of silkworm genetic breeding, but also points out the direction for its future development. In summary, future research and applications in silkworm genetic breeding will focus more on transgenic and genome editing technologies, which will provide new opportunities and ideas for the improvement of varieties and the cultivation of new silkworm breeds.
