Impedance cardiography (ICG) utilizes changes in thoracic impedance as an indicator to noninvasively and instantaneously obtain various hemodynamic data, which holds significant clinical importance for monitoring or treating patients with heart failure (HF). We conducted a systematic search of the literature in PubMed and CNKI, focusing on recent reports regarding the use of ICG for hemodynamic analysis in heart failure. We summarized and reviewed the diagnostic value, therapeutic implications, rehabilitative significance, and prognostic value of various ICG parameters for different types of HF. The findings indicate that ICG is highly useful for the auxiliary diagnosis of HF, the development of individualized treatment plans, and prognostic stratification; however, standardization of equipment and evidence supporting long-term favorable outcomes still need to be further established.
