Abstract

Obstructive sleep apnea–hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) is a chronic sleep-related breathing disorder characterized by recurrent collapse of the upper airway during sleep. Its core pathological mechanism involves an imbalance between oxidative stress and inflammatory responses induced by intermittent hypoxia. As an important member of the glutathione peroxidase family, glutathione peroxidase 7 (GPX7) maintains intracellular redox homeostasis through multiple pathways, including the scavenging of reactive oxygen species, regulation of endoplasmic reticulum stress, and modulation of inflammatory responses. This article reviews the relevant literature from China and abroad, systematically summarizes the potential association between GPX7 and the pathogenesis of OSAHS, and analyzes the possible molecular mechanisms underlying their interaction. It aims to provide new perspectives and references for the early diagnosis, disease assessment, targeted treatment, and future research of OSAHS.
