Sustainability has become an important issue for companies and countries, especially in the energy sector. As one of the world's largest oil exporters, Saudi Arabia's oil industry's practices are essential. By taking Saudi Aramco (Aramco) as an example, this article explores sustainable development practices in the desert of Saudi Arabia, focusing on its strategies and results in environmental protection, social responsibility, and corporate governance. As the world's leading energy company, Aramco dominates the oil industry and has actively taken steps to address the growing challenges in environmental protection, supporting the diversity and equality of its employees and the development of local community development, and still be able to have sound financial results to pay back to its shareholders. In this article, the case of Aramco is used to explore in depth the best environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices of energy companies, research of Aramco's ESG strategies, threats of balancing economic growth with environmental protection in resource-rich but environmentally vulnerable regions, and the difficulties of promoting labor equality would be conducted, and how the best practices can impact and inspire the sustainable development processes on a global scale would be discussed.
