Abstract

Piezoelectric effect was first discovered in 1880s. When stress is applied on certain piezoelectric materials, electric charges are created on their surfaces. This is called direct piezoelectric effect. Later, the application of this effect is used in war and works with great efficiency. Since then, scientists discovered the strong prospect of direct piezoelectric effect. The purpose of this essay is to review the development of piezoelectric and give out personal designs in applications of piezoelectric generators. The essay first gives the background of the development of piezoelectric effect, then explains the working principles of piezoelectric. Third, previous examples of piezoelectric generator applications are described and give an overview in piezoelectric generator designing. Finally, several personal idea and designs of applications are given and explained.
