As an emerging method in tissue engineering, 3D bioprinting technology has shown great potential in addressing challenges faced by traditional medicine. This review discusses the basic principles of 3D bioprinting technology, the primary methods involved, and the characteristics of bio-inks, while exploring its applications in tissue engineering. The main printing techniques include inkjet bioprinting, micro-extrusion bioprinting, and laser-assisted bioprinting, each with its own specific advantages and application areas. As the core component of this technology, bio-ink types and properties significantly influence the printing outcomes. This paper focuses on the specific applications of 3D bioprinting in areas such as microtia treatment, thyroid reconstruction, and skin regeneration, which demonstrate the unique advantages of this technology in creating complex tissue structures and functional organs. Despite the promising outlook of 3D bioprinting, numerous challenges remain in translating laboratory research to clinical applications, such as improving the functionality and long-term viability of printed tissues and addressing immune rejection issues. In the future, advancements in this technology may focus on multi-material and multi-cell-type printing, optimization of bio-inks, and integration with other advanced technologies. Overall, 3D bioprinting technology is expected to bring revolutionary changes to tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, offering more personalized and effective treatment options for patients.
