Analysis and identification of ancient glass artifacts based on their chemical composition

Abstract

 The Silk Road led to the development of ancient glass products, and common ancient glass products include high potassium glass and lead-barium glass. Ancient glass is susceptible to weathering by elemental exchange with the surrounding environment, resulting in changes in internal chemical composition and appearance. In this paper, the correlation and influence of relevant factors on the degree of weathering on the surface of glass artifacts are fully analyzed, and subclasses and unknown types are identified based on their chemical composition, while the necessary sensitivity analysis is conducted for each of these results, and finally, correlations between chemical compositions and differences in correlations are presented. This study can guide for glass heritage workers to help them better carry out their conservation work.
