This paper uses Chinese A-share listed companies from 2015 to 2023 as a sample to examine the impact of natural language processing technology on enterprises’ new-quality productive forces. The study finds that: 1) the application of this technology by enterprises can significantly enhance the level of new-quality productive forces, with data as a factor and innovation-driven growth playing a mediating role in this process; 2) heterogeneity analysis indicates that the positive effect of this technology on new-quality productive forces is more pronounced in non-labor-intensive firms and in firms with a higher level of digital transformation. The study’s findings provide empirical evidence for understanding the economic consequences of natural language processing technology and offer decision-making guidance for stakeholders.
