Abstract

"Nationalization of oil painting" is an important phenomenon in the history of modern Chinese art. As a practice of Chinese oil painters actively establishing and integrating Chinese and Western artistic expression with cultural consciousness, it began at the beginning of the 20th century and ran through most of the history of Chinese oil painting in the 20th century. It promoted the development of Chinese oil painting itself, especially expanded the expression of realism, and created oil painting morphology with the characteristics of The Times and China. The nationalization of oil painting reflects the changing process of the integration of Chinese and Western cultures in a concrete form.
