Abstract

Based on the existing studies, this study has focused on the 2021 Government Work Report under the guidance of Skopos Theory, combined the features and categories of vocabulary with Chinese characteristics, and explored its translation strategies with some examples. Firstly, it has briefly described the background, purpose and significance of this study. Secondly, it has systematically summarized the research at home and the development of Skopos Theory after its introduction into China. Thirdly, a theoretical framework of translation has been elaborated and the development and principles of Skopos Theory are introduced. Fourthly, the research methods have been adopted with questionnaire and interview in order to investigate the target group's understanding of the bilingual version of the Government Work Report (i.e. GWR) and the author has proposed translation strategies and classifications of vocabulary with Chinese characteristics. Lastly, the previous thesis of the research findings has been summarized and conclusions have been drawn with a summary of the main problems existing in previous studies.
