The Role of College Counselors in the Perspective of ‘Three-Whole Parenting’

Abstract

In the new era, the Party and the state have put forward the important theory of ‘three-whole-parenting’ for the fundamental task of establishing moral education in colleges and universities, which integrates college and university parenting projects, carriers and resources, and reconstructs the pattern, system and standard of parenting. As the most important participant and implementer of college students' ideological and political education, how to play their visible function and exemplary leadership in the “three-whole-parenting” is the premise and foundation for counselors to do a good job in ideological and political education. Under this perspective, counselors should accurately position their roles, deeply understand the significance and scientific connotation of ‘three-pronged education’, grasp the laws of ideological and political work and student growth, and be the vanguard force in the whole staff, the synergistic force in the all-round, and the key force in the whole process, which has important practical significance in promoting the all-round development of the students, and pushing the counselors' professionalism. It is of great practical significance to promote the overall development of students and the professionalisation of counselors.
