Case Study on the Use of Internet Language by Students with Intellectual Disabilities in Special Education Schools

With the development of the internet, the influence of internet language on adolescents has been expanding. In 2024, the Cyberspace Administration of China and the Ministry of Education launched a special campaign titled "Qinglang·Standardizing the Use of Online Language," focusing on rectifying issues such as the distortion of sounds, forms, and meanings to create "obscure slang and inferior memes". However, to date, the spread of non-standard internet language has not been effectively controlled, and its influence has extended from cyberspace into school campuses. People generally adopt an inclusive attitude towards internet language, yet students with intellectual disabilities, who are at a special stage of physical and mental development, often exhibit inappropriate usage behaviors. So, how should we correctly perceive and guide their use of internet language? This reflection is sparked by a single case.
