Abstract

The movie "Return" is based on Yan Geling's novel "Lu Gang Yan Zhi" by director Zhang Yimou. It tells the love story between the hero and heroine in an ordinary family in the context of the "Cultural Revolution" period. Most of the colors used in the whole film are black, white and gray as the base, and the overall atmosphere is dark and depressing.
