In today's globally competitive economic environment, R&D is the source and internal power of economic growth, and its quantitative scale and innovation momentum directly affect the development of scientific and technological undertakings and the realization of high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-improvement. Based on the construction of regional R&D input-output efficiency evaluation index system, the article measures the R&D input-output efficiency and its yearly changes in 31 provinces and cities in China from 2017 to 2021 using CCR-DEA, BCC-DEA and Malmquist-DEA models. Based on the above conclusions, relevant recommendations are put forward to improve regional R&D input-output efficiency.
