Abstract

The rapid development of the Internet and its integration into education has markedly enhanced how students acquire knowledge. However, studies indicate that it has also had a profound negative impact on students. The middle school stage is pivotal in students' development, and at this juncture, internet addiction among students is on the rise. This study employs descriptive correlational quantitative methods to elucidate the impact of internet addiction on the academic performance and social skills of Chinese middle high school students. The results showed that Internet addiction was significantly related to social skills, but not to academic achievement or demographics.
