The Sound and the Fury is Faulkner's first mature work and one of the most far-reaching literary works in the 20th century. Caddy occupies an important position, almost the center of the novel, but in terms of the overall structural layout, her image is constructed by pluralistic narration with the absence of her voice. This paper firstly discusses the cause of this image, then analyzes the image of Caddy combined with pluralistic narrative techniques, and further explores its symbolic significance to interpret Faulkner's creative ideas and literary intentions.
