Abstract

Grouted sleeve connections for steel tubes can remedy drawbacks of traditional welded and bolted joints such as heavy construction workload and insufficient stiffness, which are widely applied in CFST supports and offshore wind turbine foundations. This paper reviews studies on such joints including mechanical tests, finite element simulation and machine learning prediction. It summarizes mechanical laws under axial compression, eccentric compression and bending, and analyzes how parameters like shear keys, sleeve dimensions and installation eccentricity affect bearing capacity and failure modes. The Abaqus parametric modeling method is introduced, and the advantages of machine learning in rapidly predicting joint mechanical performance based on simulation databases are illustrated. Existing research limitations are pointed out, and research directions such as long-term performance under coupled loads are prospected, providing references for the optimal design of sleeve joints.
