Quantitative Research of Tennis Match Momentum Based on Factor Analysis and Granger Causality Test

This paper studies the phenomenon of "momentum" in the men's final of 2023 Wimbledon Tennis Championships. The potential factors influencing momentum were extracted by factor analysis, and the momentum quantification model was established. Meanwhile, Granger causality test is used to verify the causal relationship between momentum and game score. The results show that momentum has a significant impact on the score of the game, which proves that momentum is the key factor affecting the result of the game. This study provides an important tactical reference for coaches and athletes to better harness momentum and improve performance.
