As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid EVs (HEVs) continues to grow rapidly, improving battery performance has become essential for enhancing energy efficiency, safety, and reliability. Nanotechnology, with its ability to manipulate materials at the nanoscale, offers transformative solutions to many challenges in battery design. Since J. Goodenough discovered lithium cobalt oxide for lithium-ion batteries in 1980, significant advancements have been made, particularly through the integration of carbon-based nanomaterials. These nanomaterials have enabled higher energy densities, longer lifespans, and faster charge-discharge cycles. In addition, nanotechnology addresses critical issues such as thermal management and ion transport, offering potential breakthroughs in these key areas. By making good use of nanoparticles, scientists are developing next-generation batteries that are more efficient, durable, and environmentally friendly. This paper examines the wide-ranging applications of nanotechnology in battery development, focusing on how nanoparticles can solve current limitations and contribute to the future of EV innovation.
