Abstract

Multivariable spline approximation is of great significance both in mathematics and in practice. This involves the approximation of non-smooth functions. In this paper, the approximation of the non-smooth function  , which is the most representative problem in robust statistics, is discussed. We propose a compact smooth uniform approximation algorithm using spline curves.
