Diabetes especially T2D is one of the most popular chronic diseases all over the world. And the amount of T2D patients is increasing day by day for the gradual changes in diets of people. Unlike T1D, the onset of T2D is not sudden, and because it has relatively few genetic factors, it is easier to prevent or inhibit the onset and complications. Nutritional intervention is not Pharmaceutical but blending and combining the common nutrients to achieve the efficacy, including controlling blood sugar and blood lipids, reduce obesity, etc. And the tangible means are taking specific diet especially Mediterranean diet, adjusting the total energy intake, supplementing specific deficiency nutrients including protein, vitamins, dietary fiber, etc., and quitting harmful eating habits such as drinking high-sugar or alcoholic beverages. The review focused on the several methods of nutritional intervention for diabetes, especially T2D, in different stages, including the prevention and the treatment of both T2D and the complications.
