Historical Context, Cross-Cultural Translation and International Dissemination of Minnan Culture: A Longitudinal Exploration from the Pre-Qin Period to the Globalization Era

Abstract

This study centers on an in-depth investigation into the historical context underpinning the overseas translation practice of Minnan culture. By systematically tracing the full spectrum of its evolution spanning germination, development, cross-border dissemination and in-depth integration with foreign civilizations, it highlights the inherent uniqueness, pluralism of Minnan culture as well as its pivotal status in cross-cultural communication. Grounded in a chronological analytical scope that extends from the early cultural integration of Minnan regional groups in the Pre-Qin era all the way to the contemporary wave of full-scale globalization, this research dissects the long-running phenomenon of Minnan culture’s external translation, and ultimately unveils the distinct internationalization trajectory of Minnan culture as a core representative component of Chinese regional cultures.
