Beyond Visual Aesthetics: Understanding the Spiritual and Philosophical Significance of Dunhuang's Lotus Motif Decoration

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to study in depth the spiritual and philosophical significance of the Dunhuang lotus pattern decoration and to explore its importance in the field of art. Through literature research and fieldwork, the paper analyses the symbolism of the lotus flower in Dunhuang culture, the artistic techniques, spiritual connotations and philosophical significance of the lotus pattern decoration. It is found that Dunhuang lotus pattern decoration is not only aesthetic, but also contains profound spiritual pursuit and philosophical thinking, which has an important inspiration and influence on contemporary art.
