Abstract

In recent years, there has been a growing demand for English major students to improve their oral communication skills. With the widespread use of mobile learning, students are now incorporating new technologies into their language learning. TikTok short videos have become an important tool for practicing oral communication due to their convenience, sharing capabilities, and multimedia features. This study takes students majoring in English from Sichuan International Studies University as the survey object and conducts an empirical study through questionnaires to explore their views on the application of oral learning short videos from TikTok to oral English teaching activities. The results demonstrate that TikTok short videos can increase student engagement and promote creativity in oral English teaching while students identify concerns around inappropriate content and potential distraction that may negatively impact learning outcomes.
