A brief discussion on the characteristics of the recruitment methods of Chinese universities for doctoral students

The way of doctoral recruitment has always been a common concern in Chinese higher education and even in the whole society. Since the establishment of the doctoral degree system in 1980, China has been improving its doctoral recruitment methods. At present, there are four types of doctoral recruitment methods in China, namely, general recruitment, direct doctorate, master's degree and "application-assessment" system. In the evolution and development of doctoral recruitment methods, a series of characteristics have been presented, forming a diversified system of doctoral recruitment methods with different characteristics and obvious differences.
