Abstract

The teaching of English in vocational colleges faces a prominent contradiction between the diversity of student sources, significant differences in English foundations, and the specificity of job demands in the industry. The traditional "one size fits all" teaching model is difficult to meet the learning needs of students at different levels and cannot accurately meet the industry's requirements for English application ability. This study is based on the theories of needs analysis and hierarchical teaching, using a combination of questionnaire surveys, interviews, and classroom observations to systematically investigate the student's goal needs, learning needs, and industry needs in vocational college industry English teaching. Based on this, a four in one industry English hierarchical teaching model of "needs analysis hierarchical positioning teaching implementation multiple evaluation" is constructed. The research results indicate that industry English hierarchical teaching based on needs analysis can effectively solve the teaching dilemma of "not having enough to eat" and "not being able to swallow", significantly improving students' learning motivation and language application ability; The implementation of hierarchical teaching requires the establishment of scientific hierarchical standards, dynamic adjustment mechanisms, and diverse evaluation systems; Industry English teaching should focus on vocational ability development and achieve an organic integration of "language+major+skills". This study provides theoretical reference and practical path for the reform of industry English teaching in vocational colleges.
